The Ground-based EM networks set on volcanoes and in seismogenic areas was initiated by the Department of Geomagnetism of IPG-Paris. Later, the development of the project was given to the EM group located at OPG-Clermont-Ferrand (France) already working on EM phenomena related to earthquake preparation and volcanic activity.
