Regional situation

Clermont-Ferrand is a middle city (250 000 habitants including the surrounding cities) which is situated in the nice region of Auvergne in the center of France (click in this small map in order to obtain a larger map of Auvergne). The Puy de Dôme (altitude 1465 m) , which dominates the town, is a 6000 year-old volcano at the top of which is built a microphysical and chemistry station sampling natural clouds.
